Flight Attendant Requirements for 2025: What Every US Airline Needs

Universal Requirements

All US airlines require: minimum 18-21 years old, high school diploma or GED, legal right to work in the US, valid passport, ability to pass 10-year background check, drug screening, DOT medical exam, ability to swim unassisted, reach overhead bins (typically 6'3" arm reach), work flexible hours/holidays/weekends, and willingness to relocate. No prior flight experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, these give you an edge: college degree (hospitality, communications, business), CPR/AED/First Aid certifications, multilingual abilities (Spanish, Mandarin, French, Portuguese especially valued), 1-2 years customer service experience, and travel or study abroad experience.
